Exhibition Masterclass

On a surprisingly hot summers day in July, 500 eager business attendees gathered at the NEC for this year’s FacetimeUK Exhibition Masterclass. Now in its third year the packed day served up fun, informative and inspirational presentations and speakers, not forgetting some fantastic catering. With sessions including Rob Brown Networking Coach, Rachel Elnaugh ex Dragon and Red Letter Days Founder, and all things tech savvy it was a real opportunity to learn and engage with success stories and suppliers on how to take your exhibiting to the next step. The opportunity to reflect on your previous achievements and how you can implement even small changes to move forwards is priceless and something that should be applied to all aspects of business.

Now how would your business look if you applied this to your day to day operations and took a moment to literally think outside of the cardboard box?  Everyone is so busy and powering on full steam ahead to get the task in hand complete and finish the job in front of them, but if you took a moment to stop, reflect and review your packaging, what would you learn? How could you streamline your supply chain packaging to reduce costs, minimise waste and increase efficiency?

Working with PPS can help you implement all the opportunities you might be missing out on and even get you ahead of your competitors in this market. With our knowledge we can review your current supply chain practise and analyse how to move it forward with ReturnableTransit Packaging. PPS have been managing supply chain packaging for nearly 15 years and will tailor a solution to your business. Whether that be pallet pooling, complete supply chain management, roll cage rental or washing of your own crates, PPS have a solution to fit with your business.

All Change at PPS Returnable Packaging Specialists

We are experiencing exciting times at PPS with continued growth in all areas of our business.  In the last two weeks we have welcomed two new members to our growing team.

Lucy Allsebrook has recently joined our sales department.  Our sales team provides customers with a large variety of returnable equipment including plastic pallets, crate hire, pallet boxes, trays and roll cages on a purchase basis.  They are on hand to advise customers on the best equipment for their business.  Lucy will also be involved as part of the sales team in the organisation of short term equipment rentals and ad hoc washes.

Our operations department has also expanded with Helen Adams joining the team as operations assistant.  She will be largely working on our full service customer accounts and using our online asset tracking system, Enable.  The management of equipment is of upmost importance when using returnable equipment and the Enable system prevents losses.

Joanne Moss at PPS said ‘We are really excited to be welcoming Lucy and Helen to our growing team.  The use of returnable packaging has increased rapidly in the last few years with many users seeing the benefits of cost savings and a lower carbon foot print.  At PPS our customers have been pleased with the variety and quality of service that we provide.

We have been meeting the needs of our customers who already use RTP or wish to start by offering a selection of services including hygienic equipment washing, rental, pooling, management, sales and equipment repairs.   I am sure that Lucy and Helen will be valuable additions to our team as we continue to grow.’

Make Returnable Packaging your Business New Year Resolution

2013 could be the Year for many Businesses to
make the switch to Returnable Packaging

Returnable Packaging Solutions
What are your New year resolutions for 2013?
We are now into the third week of January and our News Year Resolutions are starting to be a distant memory.  Whatever our good intentions were at the start of the year be it lose weight, stop smoking or save money most of us have probably gone back to our old ways by now.

The New Year is not just a time for personal resolutions it is a time where businesses can look at their practices and look at ways that they can improve.   Popular improvements for 2013 will surely be to make cost savings and become more sustainable.  Switching to returnable packaging can help many companies achieve these goals and PPS will be able to help and support along the way.

Here are 5 reasons that our customers have switched to returnable packaging:

1.    Reduced packaging waste – The disposal of cardboard or polystyrene boxes creates costs including the disposal fee and the extra labour required.
2.    Reduced packaging costs – Annual packaging costs can be significantly reduced by switching to returnable packaging.  Packaging costs can be reduced to pence per trip by renting returnable equipment.
3.    Increased product protection – All forms of returnable packaging including plastic crates and bulk bins are strong and durable providing added protection for the important goods inside.
4.    Hygienic – Returnable packing can be washed at our BRC accredited wash plant to food industry standards.
5.    Improves environmental impact – Returnable packaging typically lasts at least 5 years and it can then be recycled at the end of its useful life.  This is far more environmentally friendly than single use cardboard boxes that need to be disposed of.

Moving from single use cardboard or polystyrene boxes makes sound financial and economic sense but the thought of changing your systems can seem daunting.  At PPS we are experienced in helping our customers make that move and we will ensure that it runs smoothly.

Pallet Boxes on offer from PPS

Collapsible Plastic Box Pallets for hire
Collapsible Plastic Box Pallets
PPS offers a large range of services relating to returnable transit packaging including equipment pooling and rental, online asset tracking and contract washing. One of the most popular types of equipment is the plastic pallet box

The pallet box is a large robust container (1200x1000x790mm) with the option of solid or ventilated sides.  They are designed for distributing large loads of product including meat, fish and produce.  The size of the pallet box allows our customers to transport up to 670 litres of product making them a very efficient selection for your supply chain. This has resulted in Plastic pallet boxes becoming the equipment of choice for a variety of industries including meat processing.

At PPS we have invested in our own pool of pallet boxes that are available to rent and pool. Our rental products including pallet boxes are available in large and small volumes for long or short term hire periods, this allows flexibility to meet both long term and seasonal demands, you have the returnable equipment only when you need it. Renting returnable equipment such as pallet boxes from PPS takes the hassle out of managing your supply chain allowing you to focus on your core business

Environmental impact is becoming more important to industry. Moving to returnable transit equipment such as pallet boxes from materials such as cardboard or polystyrene can not only save you money but reduce your carbon footprint. Renting is an ideal and cost effective way to change your packaging and reduce waste.

Equipment washing is a central part of the use of returnable packaging removing all forms of soiling created in everyday use. At PPS the equipment is hygienically washed and returned shrink-wrapped and ready for use.

 BRC Accredited Equipment Washing Facilities

All returnable equipment including plastic pallet boxes can be washed at both of our BRC accredited wash plants.

Joanne moss from PPS said ‘Many of our customers have found pallet boxes to be the ideal equipment for their supply chain.  So as suppliers of returnable equipment we not only offer them on a rental basis but they are also available to buy from our largely stocked warehouse.  We have also found that in the right environment used transit equipment including used plastic pallet boxes can be a cost effective solution to your packaging and distribution needs’

Another service offered by PPS is a professional repair and refurbishment  department where we repair all types of returnable equipment including  pallet boxes, both collapsible, rigid and insulated.

At PPS we understand that moving location can be a hectic period for any business, our professional service will remove a lot of the pressure at this time by handling all your packaging material requirements.  We have storage boxes, crates and packaging accessories available to hire.

We appreciate that even with the best organisation moves don’t always go according to plan.  With this in mind rental periods can be extended and extra equipment can be hired.  Our sales team are always available to discuss any extra requirements.

Joanne Moss from PPS Midlands said ‘We are always looking at new ways to expand our business and office and commercial moves seemed like the perfect new venture.  We already rent out returnable equipment and we were getting enquiries from potential customers wishing to hire removal equipment including tote boxes for storage whilst they moved or refurbished their premises.  We hated having to turn down business due to lack of stock so the obvious next step was to invest in a pool of removal equipment.

We are really excited to now be offering this service and we are looking forward to helping customers with their moves and refurbishments.’
