Movers and Storers Show 2014

Having returned from this year’s Movers and Storers show it is clear to see why it is becoming such a huge part of the removals and storage industry. For anyone in the business this was the place to be and an ideal opportunity for PPS Crate Hire to showcase its services.

The event organisers, Amino Events, did a wonderful job of creating a buzz around the show before the doors even opened. The waves through social media certainly ensured that visitors were up to date with all the latest competitions and news while highlighting the range of products and services that would be on offer.

Our stand was in a fantastic location, greeting visitors through to the centre of the exhibitors hall. With our eye catching coloured crates and show boards it wasn’t long until we were discussing our services with many new faces. Never ones to let our visitors leave empty handed we had pick n mix bags in our PPS mugs, and the opportunity to win our PPS Crate Hire Hamper show prize. Congratulation to Lisa Bell from Bell & Sons Removals and Storage on winning this prize.

It was an excellent opportunity to catch up with our existing customers also, and support those entering the show competitions.

We’re already looking forward to next years event!

Reusable Packaging Benefits

Reusable Packaging - Why use it over Single Packaging

plastic pallets - returnable reusable packaging equipment
Plastic pallets - Returnable Transit Equipmen that can be
used over and over again

Leading companies in a wide variety of industries across the globe implement reusable packaging for the economic, social and environmental value that re-use provides across the entire supply chain. Reusable pallets, hand-held containers, bulk containers, dunnage and other transport packaging items are used for the efficient storage, handling and distribution of products throughout the supply chain.

Reusable packaging products are generally manufactured in plastic, which is a durable material and is specifically designed for multiple trips and extended life. These products typically replace single-use transport packaging such as wood, polystyrene and cardboard boxes and are ideal for closed loop or well managed open-loop systems. Due to their reusable nature, they can offer a rapid return on investment and a lower cost-per-trip than single-use packaging products.

“Companies that have made the switch to reusable packaging experience lower shipping and labour costs, better product protection, more productive flow of goods through distribution channels, plus better ergonomics and improved worker safety. These companies have also reduced their waste management costs and positively impacted the environment by generating less waste and reducing the need to build expensive disposal facilities or more landfill sites. Disposable wood pallets, polystyrene and cardboard boxes comprise a significant amount of the waste generated by businesses in Europe and there is limited landfill space left, plus it is becoming more and more expensive to get rid of waste of this nature.

Equipment Wash Facility awarded BRC Certification

Returnable Transit Packaging Company PPS Midlands Ltd gets BRC Certification for State of the Art Industrial Washing Facility in Measham

PPS Midlands Ltd is pleased to announce that they have been awarded BRC Certification under the Storage and Distribution Standard at their state of the art equipment washing facility in Measham.

The principal trade of PPS Midlands is management of returnable transit packaging. This incorporates the supply of returnable equipment such as plastic crates, trays, boxes and pallets in addition to collapsible pallet boxes and bulk bins. PPS manage pools of equipment and part of that equipment management is the hygienic washing of all used packaging.

Operations Director Andy Flynn said “We already held ISO22000 at Measham but felt that BRC Certification was more applicable and a more recognisable standard. Most of our clients supply the primary retailers so having BRC certification demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with a returnable packaging solution that is second to none. We now have both Grimsby and Measham operating within the standards of the BRC Standard, having obtained certification for PPS East Ltd at Grimsby in December 2011”

The scope of the certification comes under the Consumer Products and Packaging Category and reads “Washing and sterilising plastic boxes, pallets and bins: delivering logistical support to the Customer”. This is the perfect fit for our operations in the Midlands where we provide tray and crate washing for a big number of customers within the food processing trade.

We also offer a pallet washing service. PPS has been washing plastic trays, crates, boxes and pallets for a number of years at Measham and has traditionally washed for different sectors, including food, retail and pharmaceutical industries The PPS site at Measham, just north of Birmingham, offers contract washing at its state-of-the-art industrial wash facility where it can wash a variety of different box dimensions to the highest level and degree of cleaning.

Plastic boxes, crates, attached lid containers and collapsible boxes can all be catered for, and there's also a pallet wash facility on site. All equipment washing including Tray, crate and pallet washing is completed to the highest standard and we are very proud to have BRC certification
